THE CITY COLLEGE OF NEW YORK
Learn how it breaks. Then learn how to defend it.
Hackathons, CTF competitions, hands-on workshops and industry speaker events — open to every CCNY student, undergrad and grad, in every major. No dues. No experience required.
The CCNY Cybersecurity Club exists so students at City College have somewhere to actually practise security instead of only reading about it. We run competitions, build things, break things we're allowed to break, and bring in people who do this for a living.
You do not need a security background. You do not need to be a computer science major. A good chunk of the club started at zero, and the first workshop of every series assumes exactly that. If you're curious enough to show up, you belong here.
Formally, we're a registered student organization under the Graduate Student Council. Graduate students are the voting members; undergraduates, alumni, faculty and staff are all welcome as associate members and at every single event.
Weekend builds where you ship something real and walk away with a project worth putting on a résumé.
Capture-the-flag: security puzzles solved in teams. We practise together and enter regional and national events.
Network defense, penetration testing, digital forensics, cryptography. Laptops open, no slide decks for an hour.
Talks and panels with industry practitioners, academic researchers and government security professionals.
Security+, CySA+, OSCP and CEH. Study with people on the same timeline instead of grinding alone.
Faculty-mentored research projects, plus résumé reviews and mock interviews before internship season.
There's no application to write and no membership fee. Everyone starts as a Member; leads and officer roles get handed out as people take things on.
Everyone here signed up and had their student status verified against their CCNY email and EMPLID. Officers first, then newest joiners.
We publish names, roles and join dates only — never emails or EMPLIDs. Want your name taken down? Email ccnycybersec@gmail.com and it's off the page the same day.
Questions, sponsorship, or you want to speak at an event? Email ccnycybersec@gmail.com.
Appointed directors who run the club's day-to-day work alongside the executive board.
